Most theologians, and some philosophers as well, go to great lengths to convince us that God exists. This is very kind of them. But it would be so much simpler and so much more effective if he would just appear to us!… To claim that God conceals himself in order to protect our freedom is to posit that ignorance is one of the components of freedom.
